Gladys SiwelaMs. Gladys Siwela is the MEFMI Public Relations Manager. She joined MEFMI  in September 2007. She is responsible for the brand communication and public relations at the Institute.  She cordinates all high level fora events and is Secretary to all Governance meetings.  She is also a member of various MEFMI committees.

 

Gladys trained in both print and broadcasting journalism from the Harare Polytechnic in Zimbabwe and graduated with a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication. 

 

She further attained B.A. Communication (UNISA) as well as MSc Strategic Management from the University of Derby, UK.  Gladys has worked for local and international NGOs as well as the private sector.  Having started her career as an Assistant Editor in 1990 and then Editor for Women’s Action Group (WAG), she then joined ISIS Women’s International Cross Cultural Exchange (ISIS-WICCE Uganda) from 1992 to 1996 as Publications Coordinator. Between 1997 and 1999, she worked for a year as a sub-Editor at Sapes Trust, and another year as Communications Manager at Women in Law and Development in Africa (WiLDAF). She spent a year at Zimbabwe Institute of Management (ZIM) as Marketing Manager before joining Trust Bank as the Corporate Communications Manager from 1999 until 2003. 

 

Prior to joining MEFMI she managed her own public relations and reputation management consultancy – Agora Cooperate Communications. Ms Siwela is a board member and the Treasurer of WAG.  She is also a member of the Business Development Committee for the Zimbabwe Institute of Management. She is currently a PhD student with the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU).
