MEFMI is pleased to announce the establishment of a Business Development Unit which became operational on 1 February 2017. The establishment of the BDU is in fulfilment of a key strategic objective under Phase V, aimed at diversifying the sources of revenue for the Institute. The income that will be generated by the BDU will supplement member states’ and financial partners’ contributions. In addition, this development provides a channel for MEFMI to extend its expertise in capacity development to a wider spectrum of institutions and individuals.
All capacity development activities that will be offered will be fee-based. Target clients will include commercial banks, the retirement benefits industry and capital markets regulators. Other short courses will be in strategic planning and management, procurement, project planning and risk management In addition, this development provides a channel for MEFMI to extend its expertise in capacity building to a wider spectrum of institutions and individuals.
The capacity development activities will be delivered through workshops, courses, consultancy and advisory services for institutions in both the public and private sectors in MEFMI member states as well as non-member states. Some of the courses will be offered as open programs whilst there will be a deliberate thrust towards needs based, customised and flexible training programs. On-line courses will also be made available. The training programs will initially be in the areas of financial services markets, macroeconomic analysis and management as well a debt management.
MEFMI Consultancy and Advisory Services will be conducted by expert consultants who will provide needs-based interventions for analysis, application of procedures, and problem solving.
Further to leveraging on its enduring legacy and experience in the delivery of high quality capacity development interventions spanning over 20 years, the Institute will also collaborate with other reputable institutions in the discharge of implementation of its activities.
