MEFMI is conducting a five day In-country training workshop on regional economic integration for government officials of Angola. The workshop which is being conducted in Portuguese, is the first of the various country-specific training workshops planned for Angola for this year.
The workshop, which started on 16 July 2018, is being attended by 32 officials (13 female and 19 male) from various institutions. The represented institutions include the Ministry of Finance, the National Bank of Angola, Ministry of Economy and Planning, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of External Relations, and the Angola General Tax Administration.
The workshop has two main objectives;
1. To enhance the knowledge of participants on the theories, conceptual models and schools of thought on regional integration processes.
2. To equip participants with skills related to theoretical foundations to the SADC regional integration agenda and identify how Angola can leverage on the benefits and opportunities it presents.
Official opening remarks were delivered by Ms. Vivian Namugambe, MEFMI Programme Manager responsible for capacity building activities on regional integration and Dr. Paulo Jeorge Ringote, the Director General of the Training Institute for the Ministry of Finance (INFORFIP). The opening session was covered by the Angola National Radio.
Two resource persons, Dr. Manuel Guilherme Júnior, the Dean of Centre of Studies in Regional Integration and SADC Law at the Eduardo Mondlane University Mozambique and Ms. Enilde Francisco Sarmento, the Head of Macroeconomics Analysis department at the Ministry of Finance Mozambique are the facilitators for this workshop.
