Rest in Peace Mr. Annan

Koffi AnanaMEFMI joins the world in mourning and saying goodbye to an illustrious son of the soil, Mr. Kofi Annan who died on 18 August 2018. Relevant to MEFMI’s mandate of providing world class capacity building initiatives, Mr. Annan was passionate about the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). He saw to the successful establishment of the Ten-Year Capacity Building Program (TYCBP) for the African Union (AU). A declaration on this was signed with the African Union Commission in 2006 and was subsequently endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly (Resolution 63/310) and the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government. The main objectives of the TYCBP-AU is to enhance institutional and technical capacities and cooperation between the UN, AU and Regional Economic Communities. MEFMI is committeed, through its capacity building activities, to pursue Mr. Annan’s passionate call to Africa to support development through empowerment at all levels for the benefit of the region and indeed the rest of the world. May his dear soul rest in eternal peace.
