MEFMI BDU Conducts a Workshop on Procurement and Contracts Management

An effective procurement and contract management system enables organisations to reduce costs and waste of resources in the value chain thereby enhancing savings and efficiency.

It also helps to strengthen relationships with suppliers which improves supply chain resilience and reduces procurement risks. Ultimately, prudent procurement and contract management contribute significantly to an organisation’s profitability and long-term sustainability. It is therefore important for all procurement professionals to have the necessary knowledge and expertise in procurement and contracts management.

Recognising the capacity gaps in procurement in many organisations and as part of efforts to keep professionals abreast of the ever-changing procurement landscape and adopt sound practices, the Business Development Unit of MEFMI offered a workshop on Procurement and Contract Management from 20 to 24 March 2023.

The workshop was attended by 53 participants (27 males and 26 females) drawn from various sectors of six (6) MEFMI member countries, namely Botswana, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

MEFMI expects that the knowledge and skills acquired in the workshop will allow participants to support their respective organisations to execute the procurement function successfully.
