MEFMI Trains Officials on Behavioural Management and Emotional Intelligence

MEFMI’s Business Development Unit (BDU) organised a workshop on Behavioural Management and Emotional Intelligence. The workshop was held virtually, from 31 May to 2 June 2023. Its objectives were to impart knowledge to participants on emotional intelligence (EQ) and provide them with the tools and techniques to effectively apply emotional intelligence to their jobs.

Emotional intelligence is recognised as a major factor in personality development and effective human resource management. It helps workers to make sound decisions, build and sustain relationships, deal with stress, and adapt to a dynamic environment. It has been argued that EQ is the key difference maker between average and star performers.

The workshop was delivered through presentations accompanied by discussions on topical issues and experiences in emotional intelligence. Presentations covered the different components of emotional intelligence and strengths-based leadership. The workshop also included exercises to complement and consolidate the knowledge and skills gained during the sessions.

A total of 28 participants from six (6) MEFMI member countries, namely Lesotho, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe participated in the workshop. Female participants represented 39 percent of the total,  while 61 percent were male participants.
