There are many types of risks, but only a few of them can bring losses as large as foreign exchange risk. Foreign exchange risk management is therefore crucial for companies frequently trading in the international markets. Generally, all entrepreneurial activities incur risks and coping with risk has therefore always been an important managerial function.\nIn addition, risk management has received increasing attention, especially in corporate practice. A major reason for this is the development of markets for derivative financial instruments and other more complex financial instruments which allow firms to transfer risks to other economic agents who are better able, or more willing to bear them.
