Staff at the Secretariat are currently attending a five (5) day course on E-learning. The course which is being facilitated by UNITAR is designed to equip and enable staff to deliver E-learning courses. Currently, MEFMI discharges its capacity building events through regional workshops, seminars, country missions and in-country workshops. The initiative on e-learning will not only increase the number of participants that MEFMI can reach for introductory workshops and courses. The ICT driven method will ensure a drastic reduction in the cost of hosting regional workshops. There are 25 staff in attendance.
The e-learning course is the first phase, which will see MEFMI develop and execute high quality training content for six (6) courses this year.
The workshop was officially opened by the Director Finance and Administration, Ms Rose Malila-Phiri on behalf of the MEFMI Executive Director. In her opening remarks, she stated that the major reason for moving towards e-learning was not to disband the traditional modes of delivering the MEFMI courses, but is to complement the product and service offering to MEFMI clients.
