MEFMI will be at the Ministry of Finance of Namibia from 14 to18 March 2016 to provide Technical Assistance (TA) in preparation for the establishment of an independent Revenue Agency for the country.
The Mission will review the readiness of the Revenue Agency for Namibia and provide final recommendations for the launch of the new Agency.
The first off-site TA was provided from 3 to 7 November 2014, when the chair of the Task Force responsible for reviewing the operational readiness of the proposed Independent Revenue Agency for Namibia was invited by the Macroeconomic Management Programme (MMP), to attend a regional course on Revenue Policy and Administration. The course was held in Rwanda, during which time the MEFMI team comprising of staff and resource persons provided TA on governance issues for the new agency. Part of the process also involved holding consultative meetings with the Commissioner General for Rwanda Revenue Authority for peer review. In December 2015, MMP staff reviewed transitional issues and provided technical advice to the Task Force Team on request.
The Mission Team will comprise of Mr. Dumisani Masilela, Commissioner General, Swaziland Revenue Authority, Mr. Joseline Ogai, Senior Assistant Commissioner, Kenya Revenue Authority and Mr. Amos Cheptoo, MEFMI Programme Manager, Fiscal Policy.
