MEFMI provides training on macroeconomic modelling and forecasting, research and report writing

MEFMI conducted an in-country workshop on macroeconomic modelling and forecasting, research and report writing for the Ministry of Finance of Lesotho. The workshop was held from 19 – 23 August 2019 and was attended by 11 participants, 6 of which were females.

The workshop introduced participants to key theories in macroeconomic modelling, diagnostics of time series data and testing for stationarity.  Participants were also shown how to estimate equations in the macroeconomic block and build a prototype model. The process of forecasting was also demonstrated. In addition, the resource team also took participants through the research and report writing process. Participants appreciated the breadth and depth of the workshop and its internalisation. Overall discussion and comments from participants were encouraging and are also consistent with this rating. A follow up workshop is planned to be held during the second half of 2020.  The workshop was delivered by the Mr. Sayed Timuno (MEFMI staff) and Dr. Laban Chesang (regional resource person – Daystar University, Nairobi, Kenya).
