CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING ON OF MS. LINAH MOHOHLO

MEFMI has learnt with great shock and sorrow about the passing on of Ms. Linah Mohohlo, the former Governor of the Bank of Botswana (BoB)MEFMI wishes to convey its most heartfelt sympathy to Linah’s family, the staff at the Bank of Botswana and the people of Botswana. She was a great Central Banker, revered in both Botswana and the region of Southern Africa.

During the period that Linah was Governor, she was extremely active and her institutional memory of why MEFMI was established greatly influenced the MEFMI we know now.  As one of two women to have served as MEFMI Board Chairman, Linah can be credited for influencing the development of the policy that will soon see all MEFMI member countries get an opportunity to chair both the Executive Committee (EXCOM) and the Board. Linah always participated in MEFMI’s governance meetings and executive fora events.  A candid speaker and a highly respected public personality, we shall remember her for being a strong pillar of support in the financial services sector in the SADC and MEFMI region.

The Secretariat and indeed the MEFMI region has been robbed of one of its greatly seasoned and highly experienced central banker.

May her dear soul rest in eternal peace.
