The Business Development Unit of MEFMI conducted a training workshop on business continuity planning and disaster recovery from 12 – 16 June 2023 to enhance the knowledge and skills of the targeted audience on Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery.
The Executive Director of MEFMI officiated at the opening of the training workshop. In his opening remarks, Dr. Kasekende welcomed the participants and resource persons and emphasized the need for organisations to build capacity in business continuity planning and disaster recovery, given the potential risk of adisaster materialising as experienced during the COVID-19. On the premise that efforts to build institutional or organisational capacity start with building human capacity, he assured the participants that the course would provide an opportunity for them to acquire the requisite knowledge and skills to help their respective organisations develop a business continuity and disaster recovery plan.
The workshop was attended by 31 participants (19 males and 12 females) at officer, manager, and head of department levels; 30 from MEFMI member countries (Zimbabwe, Malawi, Botswana, Eswatini, Zambia, Mozambique, Angola, and Uganda) and 1 from Seychelles.
The training workshop enhanced the participants’ knowledge of business continuity planning and disaster recovery. The participants are expected to become agents of change in their various organisations by using the acquired knowledge to support their respective organisations to develop and implement Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
