Dr. Frank Chansa
Programme Manager in the Macroeconomic Management Programme.
Dr. Frank Chansa is a Programme Manager responsible for Macroeconomic Modelling and Policies in the Macroeconomic Management Programme. He joined the Institute in March 2022. His core area of expertise includes macroeconomic modelling and forecasting, monetary policy analysis and fiscal policy management.
Dr. Chansa holds a PhD and Master of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam under the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) scholarship. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Zambia.
Prior to joining MEFMI, he worked at the Bank of Zambia as a Senior Researcher for modelling and forecasting in the Research Division. He was part of the team that developed and maintained macroeconomic models of the Zambian economy for use in the formulation and implementation of monetary policy. His work also involved producing inflation forecasts, policy analysis and conducting policy relevant research. He also worked at the University of Zambia where he taught several economics courses and was coordinator for postgraduate programs in the Department of Economics. Dr. Chansa also worked as a Principal Economist in the Economic Management Department at Ministry of Finance in Zambia and as a Consultant (Macro) at the World Bank Zambia country office in the Africa Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Unit.
Dr. Chansa has published a number of research articles and conducted consultancies for various organisations. His research interest broadly covers macroeconomic issues and trade.
