MEFMI Strengthens Strategic Human Resources Capacity at the Central Bank of Somalia

MEFMI, through its Business Development Unit, delivered an in-country workshop on Strategising Human Resources for the Central Bank of Somalia from 7 to 11 June 2026 in Mogadishu, Somalia.

The workshop was designed to strengthen the strategic role of Human Resources in supporting institutional transformation and long-term organisational performance. Participants included senior HR practitioners and managers responsible for workforce development, training, HR operations and records management at the Central Bank of Somalia.

The programme focused on equipping participants with practical approaches to aligning people-management practices with institutional priorities. Through practical exercises and peer learning, participants explored talent development, employee engagement, succession management and workforce planning.

The workshop also provided an opportunity to identify future capacity-development priorities. These included HR analytics, AI in HR, strategic workforce planning, compensation and benefits management, employee engagement and pension management.

The programme was facilitated by experienced HR practitioners, Mrs Mumbi Mwila and Mr Cleopas Chiketa, with Ms Sharon Wallett from MEFMI serving as Task Manager.

The intervention reaffirmed the importance of investing in human capital as a driver of organisational effectiveness and institutional resilience. MEFMI remains committed to supporting client institutions through targeted capacity-building interventions that strengthen leadership, organisational performance and sustainable institutional development.
