Michelle Mutinda is the Programme Officer responsible for Foreign Exchange Reserves Management and Domestic Financial Markets Development within the Financial Sector Management Programme (FSMP) of MEFMI.  

Ms Mutinda has close to ten years of experience in the Financial Sector. In her current role, she is responsible for foreign reserves management and advises Member countries on the governance structure, investment policies and guidelines, strategic asset allocation, portfolio management, risk management, performance measurement, and reporting. She also provides assistance on primary and secondary market operations and development, valuation of money and fixed income instruments, and yield curve analysis. Ms Mutinda is a member of the MEFMI Editorial Committee.

Prior to joining MEFMI, Michelle was a portfolio manager at the Central Bank of Kenya managing foreign exchange reserves worth over US$3.5 billion, in money market and fixed income instruments, in the major currencies and economies, within the Bank’s investment guidelines and risk parameters. She has also been a forex dealer responsible for the management of the current account portfolio, implementation of the foreign exchange policy, achieving monetary policy targets and implementing the decisions of the investment committee.

Ms Mutinda holds an MSc in International Banking and Finance from the University of Greenwich, London, UK and a BBA Accounting from the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton, Kenya.
