MEFMI Heads of Debt Management Forum

MEFMI Heads of Debt Management Forum

Background

The need to keep heads of relevant departments in client institutions abreast with pertinent developments in macroeconomic and financial management, including public debt management, remains high and key to institutionalizing best practices and ensuring awareness on key emerging issues. To raise awareness of emerging issues among senior officials in the member countries, to aid policy formulation, and to foster adoption of sound practices, MEFMI will host the Heads of Debt Management Forum.

The Forum is an annual event that brings together all the heads of the Debt Management Offices (DMOs), within the MEFMI client institutions to share experiences, and discuss emerging issues in public debt management, including raising awareness on new tools and systems released to facilitate effective debt management. The Forum also provides a platform for MEFMI to engage with heads of DMOs and discuss their capacity building needs.

The forum aims to:

  • i. Raise awareness on topical issues, developments, and opportunities in sovereign debt management; and
  • ii. Create a platform for experiences sharing amongst debt managers in the region.
