Joint MEFMI/COMSEC Course on Commonwealth Meridian
Background
Comprehensive debt databases and accurate statistics are important for enhancing transparency and accountability of public debt management operations. In addition, the availability of accurate debt data is also key in facilitating effective and efficient debt management operations. In recognition of this, MEFMI has continued to collaborate with developers of debt recording and management systems such as the Commonwealth Secretariat (COMSEC) in building capacity of member countries to better manage their debt databases.
To this end, MEFMI and the Commonwealth Secretariat will offer a joint training of Commonwealth Meridian as part of continuous capacity building interventions. The workshop will focus on enhancing the practical skills of officials on the use of the recently rolled out Commonwealth Meridian. To date, Meridian has been rolled out in all the eight (8) MEFMI countries that use the Commonwealth Meridian.
Objectives
- To enhance the participants’ knowledge on the modules, functionalities, and features of the Meridian.
- To provide a platform for experience sharing on experiences and challenges in implementing Meridian.

- Instrument Product Templates
- Using Meridian to record and manage loans
- Disbursement Management for Loans
- Managing Multi-Tranche Loans
- Debt data quality tool
- Reporting Module- Standard Reports and Aggregate Wizard
- System Administration – User Management & Workflow Management
Target Group
This workshop targets Commonwealth Meridian users, from debt management departments in the Ministries of Finance and Central Banks. The participants targeted are from the MEFMI countries that use the Commonwealth Meridian namely, Botswana, Eswatini, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, and Tanzania.
