Joint MEFMI/UNCTAD Regional Workshop on DMFAS 7

Joint MEFMI/UNCTAD Regional Workshop on DMFAS 7

Background

In an effort to avail modern, efficient, and relevant tools for public debt management, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development’s (UNCTAD) Debt Management and Financial Analysis System (DMFAS) Programme has constantly been upgrading debt management information systems to meet the demands of the rapidly changing and complex debt management landscape, advances in IT technology, and to respond to user needs.

In 2024, UNCTAD rolled out DMFAS 7, a more enhanced debt management information system that is easier to navigate, provides for the recording of a wider range of debt instruments, and supports international reporting requirements.

To ensure that member countries fully adopt the new system, MEFMI will collaborate with UNCTAD to organize a regional workshop that is aimed to equip debt management officials with the knowledge and skills required for effective use of DMFAS 7.

Objectives

  • To disseminate and impart knowledge and practical skills on the use of the new DMFAS 7, including introducing participants to the modules, functionalities, and features of the system.

Course Content

  • Introduction to DMFAS 7
  • Hands-on training on DMFAS 7 (recording debt instruments and real transactions, generation of reports, etc.)

Target Group

This course targets DMFAS users, in the back, middle, and front offices from debt management departments in the Ministries of Finance and Central Banks. The participants targeted are from the MEFMI DMFAS user countries, namely, Angola, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
