Regional Workshop on Data Requirements for Macroeconomic Analysis: Advanced Excel Features
Background
Microsoft Excel is a widely used software application employed by businesses, organizations, and individuals for various purposes. These include:
- Storing and analyzing data.
- Creating charts and graphs.
- Performing mathematical calculations.
- Budgeting and forecasting.
- Data analysis.
Microsoft offers a diverse range of features and tools to enhance user productivity and data management capabilities within the Excel environment.
Recognizing the evolving needs of MEFMI client institutions, particularly in light of staff turnover and the integration of new personnel, it has become evident that some officials may not be fully proficient in utilizing Excel’s advanced functionalities to optimize their work performance.
To address this, MEFMI conducted an introductory workshop on Microsoft Excel in 2024, targeting mid-level officials from Ministries of Finance, Statistical Offices, and Central Banks across 13 member countries.
This advanced module serves as a continuation of the 2024 training, with priority given to participants who attended the initial workshop.
Objectives
The primary objective of this training workshop is to equip participants with advanced proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Excel, specifically focusing on its application for data analysis and database management.
Course Content
This course will cover a comprehensive range of topics, including:
- Creating and managing worksheets.
- Utilizing formulas and functions.
- Developing charts and graphs.
Target Group
This course is specifically designed for junior and mid-level staff who are responsible for the compilation and analysis of the four (4) macroeconomic statistics.
